Queen with Adam Lambert headline Isle of Wight Festival
The legendary festival at the Seaclose Park on the Isle of Wight will have no other than legendary rockers Queen close the 2016 bash with Adam Lambert back on frontman duties filling in for the late Freddie Mercury.
Queen guitarist and founding member of the group, Brian May, said his band’s appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival “was long overdue“ and promised fans the band will be “ready to tear it up” when they take the stage on Sunday, 12 June 2016.
I think Queen at The Isle of Wight Festival is a date that was long overdue. How incredible to take on this challenge at this point in our lives. With an injection of new blood in the shape of the incredible Adam Lambert, Queen will be ready to tear it up on this legendary stage in 2016. Freddie would have loved it. Can’t wait. – Brian May (Queen)
John Giddings, the Isle of Wight Festival’s long-time promoter, added to the big announcement that it will be the “perfect way for (the Isle of Wight Festival) to celebrate our 15th anniversary.”
It’s an honour for us to have Queen + Adam Lambert at our festival. It’s the perfect way for us to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Queen’s music appeals to people of all generations and it’s hard to think of another band with such a famous collection of songs. It’s going to be an incredible moment for The Isle of Wight Festival when they share these songs with us. – John Giddings (Isle of Wight Festival Promoter)
Everyone loves Queen.
Everyone loves The Glambert.
Queen and Adam Lambert have to be seen live. No one can replace Freddie Mercury but Adam Lambert is not attempting to dethrone one of rock’s greatest entertainers but Adam Lambert, or The Glambert as he’s known amongst his fans, puts his own spin and tribute to the great Freddie Mercury and … it just works.

The televised 2014/2015 NYE performance of Lambert and Queen won over the last sceptic and subsequently interest in Queen tickets with Adam “The Glambert “ Lambert went into overdrive.
Queen’s Isle of Wight headliner announcement comes as a massive surprise to fans. Adam Lambert had recently announced a solo tour for spring 2016 – and that got everyone excited, now add the members of Queen to the equation and we’re nearing hysteria.

The legacy of the Isle of Wight Festival
The Isle of Wight Festival is no stranger to rock legends.
The festival originally launched in 1968 and had a similar cultural impact than the Woodstock Peace Festival had in the US.
The original festival ran for three summers until 1970 and saw now near-mythical performances by some of the Greats in rock; Marc Bolan’s T-Rex (then going under the longer moniker Tyrannosaurus Rex), Joe Cocker, Smile, Arthur Brown, The Move, Jefferson Airplane and The Who, to name but a few.
The Isle of Wight Festival was revived for the new millennium and has since lived up to its glorious past.
Queen with Adam Lambert join an elite list of classic headline acts that have graced the stage at Seaclose Park, including David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant but equally the new generation with Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters, R.E.M. and Coldplay.
