Ed Sheeran launches acting career?
The singer-songwriter filmed scenes for Home and Away, which will air this week on Channel 5, during his time touring Australia.
Ed Sheeran’s cameo sees the 24-year-old star play the role of Teddy, who Marilyn Chambers (one of Home and Away’s long-standing characters) was a nanny for during her in time in the UK, before everyone in Summer Bay realises that Teddy is Ed Sheeran.
The Guardian reported that he said of the appearance, “It’s an Australian institution. It’s always on in my local chip shop. I got asked to do it and it sounded like it could be fun.
“I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I’m sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well.”
You can catch Ed on Home and Away on 29 October at 6pm on Channel 5.
This year has been huge for Ed Sheeran. He’s played sell-out gigs at Wembley Stadium and his album X spent 13 weeks at the top of the UK Albums Chart.
After all the success, we’re starting to wonder if Ed Sheeran is looking for a career move. We reported earlier this year that he would take a break to work in a charity shop and now he’s working on his acting chops.
Let’s not forget his record label, Gingerbread Man Records. His first artist signed to the label, Jamie Lawson, has stormed the UK charts with his debut album. Jamie Lawson followed the news with the announcement of a new tour.
What’s next for the singer, songwriter, label exec and actor? We’re hoping for a gig in The Woolpack.
