Adele confirms third album name and release date
Adele, possibly the UK’s most cherished recording artist, has revealed the name and release date of her third highly-anticipated album after months of speculation.
The singer posted an image of her face with the caption “25 out November 20th” on Instagram today (Thursday 22 October), following a teaser clip of her new music last weekend.
The internet spiralled into shock last weekend when Adele’s album teaser premiered during an ad break between The X Factor. The commercial simply offered a 30 seconds preview of Adele’s new song with lyrics on the screen.
The video had no reference to a release date, but now fans only have to wait unil 20 November to hear all of Adele’s new tracks!
After the video aired on TV, Adele further elaborated about her music on Facebook. In an open letter the singer was very honest, writing, “I feel like I’ve spent my whole life so far wishing it away. Always wishing I was older, wishing I was somewhere else, wishing I could remember and wishing I could forget too.
“My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record. I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. But I haven’t got time to hold on to the crumbs of the past like I used to.”
It has been four years since Adele released her incredible second album, 21. The record cemented Adele as one of Britain’s biggest stars. Spending 23 weeks at the top of the UK Albums Chart, she landed six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards and three American Music Awards for the collection.
She then went on to record Skyfall, the theme for the James Bond film of the same name, which bagged her an Oscar award. Despite the huge success, Adele retreated and fans were left to speculate when she would return with new music.
We can’t wait for Adele’s new album. How about you? What’s your favourite Adele track?
